Ada Kezić, product designer. 1996 master's degree at the School of Design, AF, Zagreb. Till 2010, she worked as in-house designer for several Croatian furniture manufacturers.
2013 she founded A1 FORMAT design studio. She prefers projects that integrate industrial/product design, interior, exhibition and graphic design, especially ecological design. She is a professional member of the CFAA, CDA, CAAAA and IDA, CCE. She has exhibited at International fairs and exhibitions in Zagreb, Split, Belgrade, Ljubljana, Cologne, Stockholm, Milan.

General Information

Ada Kezić holds a Master’s degree in Design and is an established Croatian designer with more than two decades of experience in industrial, interior, and graphic design. After working for over ten years as an in-house designer in domestic manufacturing companies, she founded her own studio, A1 FORMAT, in 2013, which soon evolved into a multidisciplinary team.

The studio brings together designers, architects, engineers, and manufacturers, providing comprehensive design services—from idea development and conceptualization to the realization of finished products or spaces.

Sustainability lies at the core of her work, with a particular emphasis on ecology and biophilic design. Ada Kezić consistently applies principles that integrate aesthetics, functionality, and environmental responsibility. Her design expression is characterized by the use of natural, recycled, and locally sourced materials, forms inspired by organic lines, and the development of modular, durable products.

The LAKO eco FU(rni)TURE system, a multi-award-winning project presented at international fairs such as Imm Cologne and Stockholm Furniture Fair, is an excellent example of the systematic development of environmentally conscious furniture.

Biophilia—the concept of the human connection with nature—is clearly present in her design language. This is reflected in the exhibition BIOPHILIA – Man and Space and in the integration of natural materials, organic forms, and light elements in products such as lighting fixtures from the Kala, Leaf, Tulip, and Matches series, including the solo exhibition LIVADA. These lighting pieces, made from natural or recycled materials, are designed to create harmonious and nature-connected environments. Her focus extends beyond aesthetics to the emotional and psychophysical experience of space, which is fundamental in applying biophilic principles in interiors.

In furniture production, she collaborates with domestic manufacturers and actively develops products characterized by modularity, flexibility, and functionality while utilizing sustainable materials. Series such as Piazza luce, TRIS, Quatrefoil, and Sitty, along with individual furniture pieces, demonstrate the development of furniture that integrates seamlessly into contemporary spaces with minimal environmental impact. Many of her works are self-initiated projects, reflecting a genuine commitment to innovation and ecological responsibility.

Participation in exhibitions with thematic focuses on ecology, recycling, and sustainable design—such as ART ECO, RECYCLED, Aesthetics of Wood Design, and DEMOCRATIC DESIGN—further confirms her dedication to sustainable design and the relationship between people and space.

In addition to product design, a significant aspect of her work involves interior design, with a focus on functional, natural, and pleasant working and living environments. Projects frequently incorporate wood elements, organic forms, and lighting that enhances harmony and connection with nature.

A special segment of her work includes urban equipment and exterior space design. Urban benches, pavilions, and multifunctional elements for public spaces are designed to encourage social interaction and provide high-quality outdoor experiences. These projects clearly demonstrate a balance between human needs, environmental resources, and visual integration with natural or urban surroundings. Such design promotes public space as an extension of the interior—a place of community, relaxation, and harmony with nature.
